Day 1

Awesome video from Tanya and Holly, that discussed their book, The Google Infused Classroom.

I love being reminded of all the ways technology can work FOR the students and teacher. I am now looking forward to devouring this book for all the wonderful ideas!

Biggest Take Away #1: My Flipgrid Response

I am now working on ways to incorporate the click and listen for my current unit that we will continue after the break.

Day 2

I honestly NEEDED this session of the #DitchSummit2017 that Kim Strobel did. As a new(ish) mom & wife, STRESS AND ANXIETY have way too much space in my life. The last two years have really been difficult with trying to be and do EVERYTHING and feeling as I am failing at all things.

Biggest Take Away #2: My Flipgrid Response

I am so fortunate that I was able to watch this video. There were so many YES moments and I was almost in tears at some points realizing I need to make sure I am taking care of myself. That is a must to be the best for every other aspect of my life.

Day 3

This video on Brain Learning with Pooja Agarwal was interesting. One of the things I found most interesting was the brain dump. Asking students to recall and write down everything they remember about the topic is very useful. No notes and not open book, but just recall. Sometimes I have moved so far away from recall that I missed some important aspects to it.

I will try to incorporate this in my classroom. I also thought it was really important to do this a formative assessment to see what students know and where they can improve. The feedback aspect is really important.

SADLY: Wasn’t Able To Finish

End of the semester, life with a 20 month old, and a deadline just didn’t fit in with finishing all the videos in the #ditchsummit2017.

I am trying take Kim Strobel’s advice and trying not be too hard on myself. I am appreciative of what I learned and will look forward to the next one that I will strive to finish! I gained so much from the 3 videos I was able to watch.

I encourage any education to take the time and look out for these wonderful resources.

They are invaluable to keeping up in the ever changing world of education. So much knowledge can be gained and reminders to keep us recharged and excited about our wonderful profession.
